1. About this test

The 123-Iran Political Orientation Test is an educational tool designed to help users explore their position across two political dimensions:

  • Economic: Left to Right
  • Political authority: Libertarian to Authoritarian

The test is intended to encourage reflection and discussion. It is not a scientific, clinical, electoral, or professional assessment, and its result should not be treated as a definitive description of a person’s political beliefs.

2. Your privacy

The political test itself runs locally in your browser.

Your individual answers, calculated political position, pseudonym, and generated result image are not submitted to or stored in a test-results database operated by 123-Iran. We cannot see your individual answers or identify how a particular user answered the questions.

The calculations and image generation take place on your own device.

Like most websites, 123-Iran and its hosting, security, or analytics services may process ordinary technical information related to a website visit, such as IP address, browser type, device information, page views, and security logs. This technical information is separate from your individual test answers.

Political opinions can receive special protection under European data-protection law, which is one reason the test was designed so that individual answers remain on the user’s device.

3. Pseudonyms and shared results

You may use a pseudonym rather than your real name.

When you choose to share a result, the shareable link contains:

  • the pseudonym you entered;
  • your final economic coordinate;
  • your final authority coordinate;
  • the selected language and display format.

The link does not contain your individual answers.

Anyone who receives the link may see the pseudonym and final political position contained in it. Do not use your real name or share a result unless you are comfortable making that information visible to the recipients.

4. Cookies and website analytics

The test does not require cookies to calculate or display your result.

The broader 123-Iran website may use necessary cookies, security tools, or audience-measurement services. Where consent is legally required, users should be offered appropriate cookie choices.

Under French guidance, certain audience-measurement tools may be exempt from consent only when strict conditions are met, including limited use for anonymous site statistics and no cross-site tracking or transfer for unrelated purposes.

Further information about the website’s cookies and service providers should be available through the site’s cookie settings or general privacy notice.

5. How results are calculated

Each answer contributes points to one or both political dimensions.

The final score is calculated by comparing the points received with the maximum possible score on each dimension and converting the result into a percentage between:

  • −100 and +100 on the economic axis;
  • −100 and +100 on the authority axis.

A negative economic score indicates movement toward the Left, while a positive score indicates movement toward the Right.

A negative authority score indicates movement toward the Libertarian side, while a positive score indicates movement toward the Authoritarian side.

The result reflects the structure, wording, weighting, and scoring choices used in this test. Different questions or scoring methods could produce a different result.

6. Public-figure benchmark

The public figures shown on the comparison map are included for educational and illustrative purposes.

Their positions are editorial estimates based on their publicly known ideas, policies, statements, conduct, and historical context as interpreted through this test’s questions and scoring system.

These positions:

  • are approximate;
  • are not statements made or approved by the people shown;
  • do not imply endorsement, affiliation, sponsorship, or opposition;
  • should not be treated as definitive academic classifications.

Historical and contemporary figures may also have held different positions at different points in their lives or careers.

7. Images and names of public figures

Names and portraits are used to identify public figures in an educational and political-commentary context.

The portraits used in the test are stylized or generated editorial representations and are not intended to suggest that any person shown participated in, approved, or endorsed the test.

All trademarks, names, and other rights remain the property of their respective owners where applicable.

8. “Open-source like” transparency

The test is designed with open-source-like transparency. Its questions, scoring logic, and browser-side technical operation can be inspected directly through the page source and browser developer tools.

This allows knowledgeable users to review how the test works and verify that individual answers are processed locally in the browser.

This transparency does not grant permission to copy, republish, modify, or commercially reuse the test, its questions, branding, images, or other content.

9. Acceptable use

You may use the test for personal, educational, journalistic, or discussion purposes.

You may not:

  • use the test to harass, threaten, discriminate against, or target another person;
  • falsely claim that a public figure approved or participated in the test;
  • manipulate the test or its results in a misleading way while presenting them as official;
  • use the 123-Iran branding in a way that suggests authorization without permission;
  • attempt to interfere with the security or operation of the website.

10. No guarantee

The test and website are provided on an “as available” basis.

Although reasonable efforts are made to maintain accurate wording, translations, calculations, and technical operation, 123-Iran does not guarantee that the test will always be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for every purpose.

Users remain responsible for how they interpret, use, or share their results.

11. Changes

The questions, scoring system, translations, benchmark positions, technical features, and these terms may be revised over time.

The version number included in a shared result link may be used to indicate which version of the test generated that result.
